Conclusion

Concluding with my blogger site I have experienced how we can search for information of any topic and just express ourselves. With blogger I could let people know what I do and what I think by
posting comments about news, reports, studies, songs or essays. I expected
people to see my point of view and if they liked it comment about what is their point of view. and what they thought about my writing, it worked, class partners told me via Facebook and in person some comments about my writings so I am thrilled with the experience.

The world

The World

I see the world suffering, in danger, dying. because this topic is more like a free one I want to talk about what we humans have been doing to the world since we emerged or were created. why do we need and feel so different to other species? why do we think that we are superior to the rest of the animals and plants? Is it our nature to be like this? or is it because we said so an no one told us we were wrong.

The World, Planet Earth, what we call "home" is in danger because of us. I want to talk about how humans obtained the ability to be the only organism that disagrees with nature. Our so called home dying because of the pollution that we create because of our anti-natural activities. Even if we humans know about  biodiversity's importance for a long time, human activity has been causing extinctions. Pollution is a problem that affects the Earth and we are the cause of it. We have created air pollution, sound pollution and even light pollution. Oxygen is the main component we need to breathe and the human race is the only creature that kills the main producers of oxygen. The people say "Our planet is sick" but I believe that the people is so sick that they need to say our planet is the sick one.

Changes in global warming occur slowly, which give us time to react before it worsen. People is not going to react because they do not feel the changes happening, yet if the changes occurred faster we maybe could react faster and do something to stop pollution stat. "We have to save the frog" said Al Gore to describe this phenomenon using an analogy of a frog. If we put boiling water and take a live frog, which represents humanity, this frog will react fast and try to leave immediately, but if we have water at room temperature and put the same frog and slowly heat the water this frog will not notice the rise of temperature until it is to late. This analogy tells us that we have to save the frog, we have to save humanity is we have to save our planet and ourselves.

Education

Education

School dropout is a problem that affects many societies, including the Puerto Rican society. It is a worrying factor that our children have to give up their studies in some cases. There are some young students who attend school (mostly high school), which already have job responsibilities. What is this? Well, there are cases where the monetary income in the family is not enough. Therefore, many, unfortunately, leave school to assist with household expenses.          Some of our young people end up pregnant before they finish their studies. If the student attends to a private school, surely will be expelled quickly, but when studying in a public school sometimes, there are girls who are absent for a reasonable time and then return to complete their grade level. However, many in order to fulfill the new role as a mother, they do not finish their grade. In the case of the young boy, is the same. Now you have to take responsibility as a father meaning that he have to start working in order to support his family.

There are those who leave school because the media tell them is successful whom has home and car, so they go looking for that job that offers them the opportunity to have those possessions. However, the dream of owning property often is never reached, because job opportunities for young people without a high school degree tend to be those of low pay or night hours. In the other point of view the school also abandons the students when they provide material for them that is not relevant and an ancient structure. When you have a programmed schedule that leaves unattractive spare time between classes, cause the student to leave school and, most of the time, never come back. Another problem is that many schools teachers teach the same way they did years ago, where technology had not reached the place it is today. The teacher is often not able to understand this world, and harms your student learning. The point is clear: the school must provide the student with the necessary tools that will be inserted into the working world and they will become a fully functional person.

Movies

Movies

There are many types of movies like Horror, Comedy and SiFy. I like most of them, the movies I do not lose my time watching are the ones related with romance and/or Horror. This time I chose one of my favorite movies called Slumdog Millionaire with Dev Patel and Freida Pinto. This movie is about a Mumbai teen who grew up in the slums, becomes a contestant on the Indian version of "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?" Then he is arrested  under the suspicion of cheating because he had all the correct answers. While being interrogated, the events from his life history are shown and these events explain why he knows the answers. This makes the movie interesting and culturally exposed.

I chose this movie, not only because of the story, yet because of the cultural mixture that shows. It allows us to see how most of India's population lives in the slums, in poverty, hunger and lack of hygiene.  In the movie we see little children running from kidnappers, drug dealers and fighting to survive, showing us the reality of India. Most of the movies are in very famous cities and countries like New York, in how many movies does New York appears? I could make a full New York City map only from movies. I believe in India they starve because they think, based on their religion, that every animal Is someone's soul. This is a fact but it does not make India a place where good things can happened like events, movies, artist etc. Movies like this, that shows the world the reality of a country should be more viewed and common in order to make the world a world. We have to stop thinking that we live for ourselves because it is not like that. Do not think in progress if it is only your progress.

Celebrity: Morgan Freeman

Morgan Freeman

Morgan freeman is the celebrity I chose because I consider him one of the best American actors of Hollywood. He was born on June 1, 1937 in Memphis Tennessee, USA. after acting on more than 70 movies, most of them where hits, he is considered, by the critics, as one of the best actors that Hollywood has given to the big screen. Freeman is 6' 2" tall and has one of the best voices ever heard in the screen. Morgan has been married twice, his first spouse was Jeanette Adair Bradshaw having two children and Myrna Colley-Lee. Morgan Freeman was one of the victims of racism because of the time he was born on. When he decided to enter the Air Force, wanting to be a fight pilot, the military did not let him because he was black, so he decided to me a mechanic on the Air Force only for four years.

In my opinion Morgan Freeman is one of those persons that fight for their dreams. Even if he had to refocus his career because of the racism, he fought and went up. Participating on most of the movies that are my favorite like the Bucket List, Olympus has Fallen, Million Dollar Baby, Seven and the best of all Shaw shank Redemption, made him my favorite actor. With his great performance and voice he gives the movies a thriller sensation. He studies the character and lives for it what makes his acting very convincing and a natural talent. Morgan, like me, is against racism. Being impacted by the discover he made saying that his great great great  grandmother was bought as a slave and the help of some teachers he had in high school he decided to show that a black man can do more. An inspiring history of him and his career made me choose him making him officially the best actor on action/thriller movies of Hollywood.

Media

Distorting the reality

The media is the best way when people have to communicate with the rest of the world. A very informative way that helps us understand why certain things happen when they happen. The media have the power to tell anything, which most of the people will believe without investigating for themselves. Still the media has one problem that they see as a benefit, it is the subjectivity hidden in the objectivity that they are suppose to have.

The media can alter any information they give using the reporters subjectivity. A good reporter will be as objective as he can using, like the essay says, surveys, facts, polls and even charts based on real statistics. An example of objectivity can be, a car accident with a horse involved has occurred last night in Humacao, PR a young female dead because the horse was found dead over the car trapping the female inside out of reach to save her. An example of subjectivity could be, a fatal car accident with a beautiful horse involved occurred last night in the city of Humacao, PR where the beaches are better, a responsible young woman was found dead inside the car because the big beast crashed and trapped her making it impossible for paramedics to help the victim.

It happens all the time, the media via newspaper, national television and radio often change the reality to make it more intense. This distorting of the reality is bad because people start to wonder if they can really trust the media once they notice that most of the information is fake or is full of opinions. One of the most common things media do is to expose only two very opposite points of view like the essay in present days. We have to be very picky when choosing an information provider, the most exposed that the information has been to a reporter, the most chance of it to be subjective.

Marriage

Interracial marriage

An interracial marriage is when two people of different races marry. Genetically, there are no physical impediments to interracial marriage. The factors that help or hurt a couple of mixed marriage are cultural and depend on the reactions and influences of the community in which we live. Society states what “should do” or “should not do” and this can cause that the reactions of other members of the community affect the decisions of those involved before and after marriage.

In this type of marriage is common that each spouse brings to the marital union a list of what to do or not do, what to say or not say, in a marriage to prevent hurting her partner. These individual lists learned in different cultural groups may cause both apparently inevitable misunderstandings and conflicts. When cultural differences such as regional and class are added to the family the possibility of problems is bigger. Even small cultural differences can cause misunderstandings of importance.

I think that despite the racial differences if there is love, they feel good with each other and they desire to start a family, the couple should try it and get married. This is what the story 'My mom is brown. My dad is pink. We are beige' shows. The story is a great example because the couple met and decided to get married no matter the difference of cultures. Obviously, due to different ways of parenting that they have there will be differences that can end up in discussions and problems, but all marriages have these discussions and problems even if they are not interracial. It is about knowing how to handle these problems and not letting some cultural differences cause a divorce. I think that despite the cultural differences that may have pairs of intercultural marriages, love should prevail. People should try it; I believe it is an interesting way to learn everything about another country and its culture.
